In our wine amphorae’s design we reinterpreted a classic model, paying particular attention to the proportions of the volumes, in order to obtain a product with its own balance and stability. The design considers the "golden section", an ancient mathematical ratio or sequence that can be expressed algebraically. This is refered to as the Fibonacci sequence that manifests itself in nature in the form of flower seed heads, pinecones, sea shells and hurricanes. Ancient Greek Architecture relied on it to determine dimensional relationships between the buildings width and height.
Our amphorae are made by a blend of clay and ceramic matrix, resulting from nano engineering; this ensures the right porosity to the amphorae and, therefore, optimal oxygenation. The doughs are carefully trodden by hand in plaster molds. Each amphora for wine is handled with care and passion in all stages of production.
Sirio Anfore was born as a research and development laboratory in order to give new life to an object that has accompanied human history. Years of improvement have led us to the evolution of ceramic in a perfect material: Microporous Ceramic, a mixture of clays and minerals with the right requirements for a safe oenological use. We paid attention to the locking system (patented) made with stainless steel and bronze clamps, designed for a comfortable and elegant gesture in setting the cover.
A lifetime of transforming matter, aiming to create objects that could give emotions from sight and touch. We balance art, historical craft, and technology in our wine amphora to allow you to coax the style and nuance out of your best grapes. The refined design is done by a winemaker for winemakers. Our process is done by hand overseen by a master craftsman ensuring the optimal transformation of the gres (clay) into the final product.
